Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple

Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, located in the heart of Kudroli, Mangaluru, stands as a beacon of social equality and divine grace. The temple was conceptualized and consecrated by the eminent social reformer and saint Sri Narayana Guru in 1912. Seeking to dismantle the oppressive caste-based barriers of the era, the temple was established to provide a sanctuary for all, particularly the Billawa community, who had previously been denied entry to traditional places of worship. The Guru, guided by his vision of 'One Caste, One Religion, One God for Mankind,' hand-picked the location to ensure it served as a catalyst for spiritual and social upliftment.

Originally constructed in the traditional Kerala style, the complex underwent a monumental transformation in 1991, adopting the majestic Chola style. The temple is renowned for its grand gopurams adorned with intricate sculptures, and the sanctum sanctorum houses a powerful Shivalinga, which the Guru himself brought and consecrated. Beyond the main deity, Lord Gokarnanatha, the complex hosts shrines for Lord Ganapathy, Lord Subramanya, Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Lord Bhairava, the Nava Grahas, and Lord Shri Krishna, allowing devotees to experience a holistic spiritual journey within a single premise.
