Overview of Achakanya Waterfalls
Achakanya waterfall is one of the less explored natural beauties of Karnataka, located near the village of Aralasurali, about 10 km from the town of Thirthahalli in the Shimoga district. Formed by the River Sharavathi as it takes a splendid leap among the dense forests of the Western Ghats, the waterfall drops from a height of about 6 to 7 feet. Despite its modest height, it is a magnificent sight, especially during the monsoon season when the water gushes down with full force.
Trekking Experience
The waterfall is hidden from view within the dense forest range of the Western Ghats, requiring visitors to trek to the site. There are no marked ways, routes, or signboards leading to the waterfall, making local guidance or a sense of adventure essential. The trek provides a wonderful opportunity to observe the region's varied flora and spot various species of birds.
