Overview of Balmuri Falls
Balmuri Falls is a famous man-made scenic picnic spot situated about 18 km away from Mysore, on the way to the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam in Yadathittu, Karnataka. Created by a check dam built across the Cauvery River, the waterfall cascades from a height of about 6 feet along a 1.6 km long check dam. The name 'Balmuri' is derived from Kannada where 'Bala' means 'right' and 'Muri' means 'curve', as the river takes a right turn near the site.
