⛅Morning or evening for a peaceful visit. Last Monday and Tuesday of Karthik month for the Kadalaikayi Parishe fair.

Situated on the outskirts of Basavanagudi extension, the Bull Temple is an ancient shrine built in the Dravidian style of architecture, dating back to the time of Kempegowda in the mid-sixteenth century. This revered site is home to a magnificent monolith bull, Nandi, carved out of a huge grey granite boulder. The Nandi is exceptionally well-proportioned, measuring approximately three metres in height and five metres long, and rests on a high platform.

Owing to its commanding position, the Nandi overlooks the sprawling city of Bangalore below. An inscription in Kannada on the pedestal of the Nandi states that the river Vrishabhavati originates at the feet of the Nandi, flowing westwards to join the river Arkavati at Kanakapura.

A significant annual event, known as the Kadalaikayi Parishe (Groundnut Fair), is held here every year in the month of Karthik, on the last Monday and Tuesday. During this vibrant fair, large quantities of groundnuts are sold, attracting numerous visitors.

Adjacent to the Bull Temple, at its foot, visitors can also see another impressive monolith: a huge Ganapathi idol. Nearby, the Kadu Hanuman temple houses a colossal idol of Anjaneya, similarly hewn from a single rock. Just about a hundred metres to the north of the Bull Temple lies the Bugle Rock, a historical spot where a bugle was sounded in Kempegowda's time to signal various occasions and timings to the residents of Bangalore living in the vicinity.
