Located about 35 kms from Chikkamagaluru in the scenic Baba Budan Hills, Dattatreya Peetha is a revered shrine sacred to both Hindus and Muslims. Situated at an altitude amidst the lush Western Ghats, the site features a laterite cave that is traditionally believed to have been sanctified by the residence of Dattatreya Swamy as well as the Sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayat Mir Khalandar. The shrine stands as a unique symbol of communal harmony where devotees of both faiths worship. An annual celebration takes place in December along with the Urs, drawing thousands of pilgrims with great fervour.
