About Horanadu
Horanadu is a holy town located in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka, India. Situated on the banks of the river Bhadra, about 100 kms from Chikkamagaluru, it is deeply revered for the ancient Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple.
History & Architecture
The Adi Satyatmaka Annapurneshwari temple is a popular place of pilgrimage. Legend says that the goddess Annapoorneshwari was installed here by Sage Agasthya. The main deity is made of gold, depicting Goddess Annapoorneshwari holding a-shankha, chakra, kripana, and gayatri. A consecrated Sri Chakra was installed in the form of a Koorma (tortoise) which is shrouded by Adisesha carved in stone.
