Lakkundi - Kashi Vishveshwara Temple

Located just 9 kms from Gadag, Lakkundi is a historically rich town that once served as an important Jain center for religious training and a prominent hub during the Kalyani Chalukya era. The town is renowned for its exquisite architecture in the Chalukyan style, boasting intricately carved temples and stepwells (kalyanis).

The most significant monument is the Kashi Vishveshwara Temple, a masterclass in Hoysala and Chalukyan transitional architecture featuring intricate stonework, beautifully sculpted pillars, and a unique double shrine (dvikutachala).
