The history of Mudgal Fort dates back to the Yadava dynasty of Devagiri. Over the centuries, it witnessed significant political shifts, being captured by Malik Kafur in 1313. Later, the fortification was significantly expanded and strengthened by Ali Adil Shah of the Bijapur Sultanate. The fort spans a massive area, featuring double walls, deep moats, bastions, and historical gateways reflecting a blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture.
