Mysore: The City of Palaces

Situated 140 kms. away from Bangalore, by road or by train, Mysore is steeped in history and known as a city of palaces and tranquility. With a rich heritage from the Wodeyars, it features magnificent palaces, beautifully laid out gardens, imposing buildings, flowering trees, and ancient temples. The famous Dasara (Navarathri) festivities showcase a grand procession of caparisoned elephants, folk dances, and colourful floats, worshipping Goddess Chamundeshwari and Saraswati.

The Maharaja’s Palace is the focal point, built in Indo-Saracenic style with domes, turrets, arches, colonnades, and Hoysala carvings. The interior features intricately carved doors, luxuriously furnished rooms, and the impressive Darbar Hall with its ornate ceiling, huge chandeliers, and jewel-studded golden throne.
