Overview of Nagarahole
Nagarahole, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a premier wildlife sanctuary located in the Kodagu and Mysuru districts of Karnataka. Situated about 40 kms from Hunsur, this well-maintained forest reserve spans across lush tropical forests, small streams, hills, and valleys. It forms a vital part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
Wildlife & Highlights
The sanctuary offers visitors a magnificent opportunity to observe diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. Majestic Indian elephants, gaurs (bison), various species of deer (spotted deer, sambar), jackals, leopards, and occasionally the elusive Bengal tiger roam freely. Jeep safaris and elephant rides are available for jungle exploration.

Located in the Nalkeri Forest area, the sanctuary is best accessed from Mysore or Bangalore. Excellent forest department lodges are available for stay, providing an immersive wilderness experience.
