Papanash Shiva Temple Overview
Located in a beautiful valley in Shiva Nagar, Bidar, Karnataka 585402, the Papanash Shiva Temple is a revered pilgrimage and tourist destination. According to legend, the original Shiva Linga in this temple was installed by Lord Rama on his way back to Ayodhya from Lanka. Though the original temple was lost, a new structure has been built on the ruins.
Highlights & Architecture
The sanctum houses a prominent Shiva Linga, complemented by three other Shiva Lingas within the temple complex where devotees can offer pujas. At the foot of the temple lies a large pond constantly fed by a natural spring. Known as Papanash (meaning destroyer of sins), taking a holy dip in this pond is believed by devotees to cleanse the soul of all sins.
