THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (TRIVANDRUM)
Named
after Anantha, the thousand headed serpent of Hindu mythology,
Trivandrum is an ancient city with trading links that brought
it into close contact with the rest of the world. The seven hills
over which the city is spread and the great variety of lovely
old colonial and traditional Kerala buildings give Thiruvananthapuram
a special ambience. A long shoreline with internationally renowned
beaches, historic monuments, backwater stretches and a rich cultural
heritage make this district a much sought after tourist destination.
Trivandrum is the capital of Kerala.
