By Road: A good network of roads connects almost all major destinations in the state. Many places in the higher altitudes may at times remain closed temporarily due to landslides and snowfall. Regular bus services on National Highways 58, 73, 74, and 87 connect places in the state to other parts of the country.
Introduction
Hitherto known as Uttarakhand, the district of Uttarakhand is blessed with captivating glaciers, majestic snow-clad mountains, gigantic and ecstatic peaks, valleys and verdant forests. This holy place, considered as the abode of Gods has many shrines and places of pilgrimage. Char-dhams, the four most sacred and revered Hindu temples of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri nestle in the Mighty mountains of Uttaranchal.
How to get there
By Air: The only airport of the state is the Jolly Grant airport, which is located 20 km east of Dehradun. Indian Airlines operate regular flights to Delhi.
By Rail: Dehradun, Haridwar, and Kathgodam are the major railway stations connected to almost all parts of the country. Due to difficult terrain, there are only a few
